Terms of Use

Last updated August 2, 2026

These terms govern your use of splitthedrive.com (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use it.

What the Service does

Split the Drive estimates a fair meeting point between starting locations based on driving time, and surfaces nearby towns and places. It is provided for general informational and planning purposes.

Drive-time estimates are not guarantees

Drive times and distances shown are routing estimates for a typical trip and don't include live traffic, road closures, weather, or other real-world conditions. They come from third-party mapping and routing data and may be inaccurate or out of date. Meeting points, suggested towns, and places are automated suggestions, not recommendations or endorsements. Always confirm routes, travel times, and destinations independently before relying on them. You use the results at your own discretion and risk.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the Service in violation of any law or the terms of the underlying map and routing providers;
  • attempt to disrupt, overload, probe, or reverse-engineer the Service or its infrastructure;
  • scrape, harvest, or systematically extract data from the Service beyond ordinary personal use;
  • misuse the mapping features in breach of the Google Maps Platform Terms of Service or the OpenStreetMap license.

Third-party services

The Service relies on Google Maps Platform and OpenStreetMap-based routing. Your use of the mapping and routing features is also subject to those providers' terms and licenses, including the Google Maps Platform Terms and the OpenStreetMap license (ODbL). We are not responsible for those third-party services.

Intellectual property

The Service's name, design, and original content are ours or our licensors'. Map, routing, town, and place data belongs to the respective providers and is used under their licenses. These terms grant you no rights to our branding beyond using the Service as intended.

No warranty

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or uninterrupted availability, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Split the Drive and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your reliance on drive-time estimates, meeting points, or suggested places — including missed meetings, wasted travel, fuel, or time. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the revised terms. We'll update the "last updated" date above when we do.
